Upgrading Modbus v1 devices to Modbus v2 after 7.5 upgrade
Problem
If you have PLCs in a 7.3 or earlier Gateway using the Modbus v1 driver, they will not run after an upgrade to 7.5. This is because the Modbus v1 driver has reached end-of-life and was removed from Ignition starting in the 7.4.0 release. However, Inductive Automation has provided a temporary 7.5 Modbus v1 driver that you can use to migrate your devices over to the Modbus v2 driver. This driver is meant only to help upgrade to Modbus v2 and should not be used long-term.
Resolution
These steps assume that you have already upgraded to 7.5 and your Modbus v1 devices are not working. If you have not yet upgraded, then you should migrate your devices to the Modbus v2 driver before upgrading.
1) Download the 7.5 Modbus v2 driver module from here
2) Install the module in your Gateway. After the module is installed, your Modbus 1 devices should start running again.
3) Next to each Modbus 1 device, there is an "Upgrade" link on the right side. Click on the link and follow the steps to perform the upgrade. Your device will now be running under the Modbus v2 driver.
