Design Services Engineer

Job Description

The Design Services Engineer position is one of the most diverse positions within Inductive Automation. In this role you will work independently with customers from various industries- designing and developing complete projects from beginning to end or smaller solutions for application enhancements.

Engineers on this team are typically well rounded in programming, databases, and UI design. We could be architecting database schemas one day then building a UI the next. We work closely with clients to establish good rapport and deliver projects that both parties can be proud of.

The success of our engineers is a high priority, and as such training and initial supervised instruction will be provided to all newcomers.

This position also provides opportunities of travel to customer sites.


  • Developing Industrial Graphical User Interfaces GUI / Plant Management Interfaces
  • Developing and modifying databases
  • Interacting directly with customers
  • Managing projects independently
  • Creating and executing test plans
  • Selecting and/or developing test automation and test cases
  • Server, networking and IT support


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • 3+ years of development experience
  • Good Knowledge of SQL (MySQL, MS-SQL, etc) and Database Design
  • Good programming language experience (Python, Java,.NET,PHP,etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Windows OS (software development and testing methodologies)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent documentation and knowledge management skills
  • Creating and executing test plans
  • Ability to travel

Skills Not Required, But a Plus

  • Familiarity of Manufacturing industry
  • Multi-language, Spanish-speaking a plus
