Job Description

The System Administrator I is responsible for using their strong working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and/or MacOS to assist with day-to-day IT systems administration, including: provisioning systems, configuring user access, maintaining system stability and security, and maximizing system performance.

About the Role

The System Administrator's skills, qualifications, and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manager virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Ensure user access rights and file permissions are correct and align with company needs and requirements
  • Independently handle critical IT tasks with minimal supervision
  • Responsible for maintaining specific server room duties as assigned
  • Available to respond to after hour emergencies when needed

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in IT (system, network, or database administration)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, or Linux
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Active Directory, JAMF, MDM, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc)
  • Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware or equivalent)
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools a plus
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
