Ah, December. It’s that special time when we celebrate family, friends, holidays — and the hottest content of the past year. Call us content geeks if you want (we plead guilty), but we love to look back and see which videos, events, articles, and social media posts resonated most strongly with our ever-growing Ignition community. So gather ’round as we recount 2024’s biggest content moments (there’s probably something here that you missed during the year).
Top Webinar: 25+ Tips For Lightning-Fast Development
This latest installment of our Design Like A Pro webinar series was a big hit. Reese Tyson and Eric Knorr from our Sales Engineering team sprinted through more than two dozen tips for the Ignition designer, gateway, scripting, and more, and even tossed in a timely Olympics-themed animated application. Ready to turbocharge your development speed? Watch the webinar.
Top Case Study: Water Utility Improves Efficiency, Compliance, And Reporting
Our latest water/wastewater case study told the story of how California American Water – Monterey worked with Flexware Innovation to replace its legacy SCADA system with Ignition. Together, they went from a clunky, inconsistent system to “a system that is infinitely scalable into the future and adheres to modern best practices.” See the case study. (By the way, we also recently made a new water/wastewater-specific Ignition page, which you can check out here.)
Top Article In The Resources Section: UNS: Unified Namespace
The topic of Unified Namespace really came to the forefront this year, and it seemed like the right time for a high-level overview of what a UNS is, how it works, and how to get started. Thanks for reading it — and expect to see more UNS resources from IA next year. Read the article.
Top Blog Posts: Ignition 8.1.37 And Build-a-Thon Competitors
This year’s top blog posts gave us a feeling of déjà vu! Just like last year, the most-read blog posts of 2024 were about a new release-train version (Ignition 8.1.37, which delivered a Perspective Designer DevTools Update, among other updates), and about the integrators that competed in the Build-a-Thon elimination challenge in August. Read the 8.1.37 post here, and read the Build-a-Thon post here.
Top ICC Sessions: 8.3-Focused Technical Keynote And Unified Namespace
At this year’s Ignition Community Conference (ICC), there were not one, not two, but three keynotes, and the Technical Keynote was the highest-rated session of the conference. Not too surprising, considering that it was packed with information about the upcoming Ignition 8.3 release.
Meanwhile, the highest-rated ICC session presented by members of the Ignition community was “Demystifying the Unified Namespace with Ignition,” featuring Arlen Nipper and Nathan Davenport from Cirrus Link Solutions. Like we said, it was a big year for UNS.
To watch these and all other ICC session recordings, buy a discounted ICC Livestream Pass through December 31, 2024, or watch them for free here starting next January.
Top Videos: MES And Travis’ Best
It was another lively year on our YouTube channel, where the most-watched new video was “What is MES?” In the five-minute video, Application Engineer III Ryan Zakskorn not only answers that question but also gives an overview of MES solutions like recipe management and OEE, and discusses how Sepasoft MES can assist organizations. Watch the video.
Our most-watched short was a 25-second highlight reel of Chief Technology Evangelist Travis Cox’s 20 years at IA, including a few memorable keynote and Build-a-Thon appearances. Watch the short.
Top Social Posts: Automation Pyramid, ICC, ARC, And More
On LinkedIn, our posts about the five layers of the automation pyramid, the five types of PLC programming languages, and September employee promotions got the most engagement, while the RoviSys/Cooley Group case study scored the most impressions and the Ignition Architecture Builder garnered the most reactions.
Over on Instagram, our ICC wrap-up got the most reactions. On Facebook, our ARC Industry Forum photos got the most engagement, while our blog post about upgrading to 8.1 had the highest engagement on X/Twitter.
Thank you to our community for all of your engagement, conversations, and interaction online!
