Module Showcase FAQ

What do I need to include on my website about my module?

In order to qualify for a listing on the Module Showcase, your website must include the following:

  • Module Name
  • Description of module
  • Version(s) compatibility with Ignition platform
  • Cost
  • Download link for users to try out your module
  • A way for users to purchase the module from your company (if applicable)

What are the requirements for naming a module, designing a logo for a module, and referring to its use for the Ignition software platform?

You can name your module an appropriate name of your choosing, with a few requirements as follows.

You may not use the name "Ignition" or "Inductive Automation" as part of your module name.

You may state that your module is "for Ignition" in written form. If your product name is "Driver Connectivity Module," you can state that it is "for Ignition" after the name. An acceptable example would be: "This module by Acme Company is the Driver Connectivity Module for Ignition."

In written reference or visual presentation, you may not put the words "Ignition" or "Inductive Automation" before your module name, such as referring to it as "the Ignition Driver Connectivity Module" or "the Inductive Automation Driver Connectivity Module."

You may not incorporate the Ignition by Inductive Automation® logo or Inductive Automation logo, in whole or in part, into the design of your product logo.

Additionally, your company name cannot be the same as the module name. You must have an official company that develops and sells your modules with individual product names.

I'm a module author who already had a module on the market place. What will happen to it?

When we switched the Module Marketplace over to the Module Showcase, your module listing disappeared off the Marketplace. In order for it to appear on the Showcase, you must fill out the Module Developer Request form.

Do I need to change my Module ID?

It depends. Your Module ID needs to start with com.yourcompanyname (i.e. com.mycompany.mymodule). If your Module ID already starts with that, no changes will be needed.

How does my module get approved for listing on the Showcase?

After you submit all required information, we will review your information, visit your website, download your module and ensure that it installs properly.

Do I need any insurance to sell my module(s)?

No. Since third-party module authors will now sell their modules via their website, your company will hold liability for the support, sale and performance of the modules. Carry only the insurance you deem necessary.

How many modules can I list on the Module Showcase?

As many as you submit and meet the submission requirements.
