Inductive Automation Announces Ignition Firebrand Awards

Winning Projects Show Versatility of Ignition Industrial Application Platform

FOLSOM, Calif. (December 14, 2017) — Inductive Automation has selected the recipients of its Ignition Firebrand Awards for 2017. The announcements were made at the Ignition Community Conference (ICC) in September.

The Ignition Firebrand Awards recognize system integrators and industrial organizations that use the Ignition software platform to create innovative new projects. Ignition by Inductive Automation® is an industrial application platform with tools for the rapid development of solutions in human-machine interface (HMI), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Ignition is used in virtually every industry, in more than 100 countries.

The Ignition Firebrand Awards are presented every year at ICC. The award-winning projects are selected from the ICC Discover Gallery, which features the best 18 Ignition projects submitted by integrators and industrial organizations.

“The variety of entries really impressed us this year,” said Don Pearson, chief strategy officer for Inductive Automation. “With so many great projects, it was difficult to select the Firebrand Award winners. We were really pleased to see the wide range of settings in which Ignition is used.”

“Every year, I find it very inspiring to see the creative applications that people are building on the Ignition platform,” said Travis Cox, co-director of sales engineering for Inductive Automation. “This year was no exception. People really came through and created some strong projects.”

These Ignition Firebrand Award winners demonstrated the versatility and power of Ignition:

 Bouygues Energies & Services (Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France) is using Ignition in several capacities for the L2 bypass in Marseilles. The system monitors and controls road signs, lights, ventilation, and more for eight road tunnels over six miles, processing data from 12,000 I/O points and more than 120,000 tags. See the video here.

 Eramosa Engineering Inc. (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) used Ignition to help Canadian Solar create CSEye — an application for performance monitoring and maintenance management. CSEye provides access to critical operational data from various SCADA architectures while allowing the project to scale as needed. See the video here.

 Miller-Eads Company (Indianapolis) used Ignition to integrate multiple software packages into a comprehensive, flexible system for Kinetrex Energy. The solution consolidates numerous existing applications, from accounting to operations, for greater efficiency and functionality. See the video here.

 SKM (Bountiful, Utah) created a SCADA upgrade with Ignition for two water agencies that work together in several areas. The two agencies can now share data. They’ve also seen a major increase in the number of tags, significantly lower costs, and greater efficiency. See the video here.

 SugarCreek (Washington Court House, Ohio) uses Ignition in all six of its food-production plants — seeing increased efficiency, lower costs, and greater ability to share data across divisions. The company has integrated its OT and IT teams, practices continuous improvement, and is growing rapidly — with annual revenues likely to reach $1 billion by 2020. See the video here.
