Inductive Automation Announces New Inductive University

Online Training for Ignition Software Available for Free to Everyone

At the Ignition Community Conference on Sept. 23, Inductive Automation revealed a new online training service to its community of Ignition software users. Inductive University is available starting now, and offers training courses on Ignition modules at absolutely no cost.

The Inductive University website makes it easy for anyone to develop a solid foundation of knowledge about Ignition software. Users can watch videos, test their knowledge with challenges, and earn Ignition credentials.

Inductive University offers two credentials: Ignition SCADA and Ignition MES. Users can earn the Ignition SCADA and MES credentials by completing all of the courses required for each credential. The online training site offers 25 courses for Ignition SCADA and 5 courses for MES. Each course consists of concise, 1- to 5-minute videos organized into topics. Each topic concludes with a topic challenge, which tests users’ knowledge after viewing videos.

All courses train users on Ignition v7.7, the latest version of the software. Going forward, users will be able to keep their knowledge up-to-date with every updated product release. As new features are added to the product, the video courses will also be updated. Users will be alerted to exactly which videos contain new information. They can then watch those videos and test their knowledge of the new product.

The online training site makes it easy to train more people in any organization, without the time and expense of sending them to live training. Students who complete their credentials are then prepared to take the Ignition Certification tests, in which they must build an Ignition project following test specifications.

A powerful search function is also built into Inductive University to search across all videos. This allows users to quickly find tutorials on the subject they’re seeking. This is ideal for both new and seasoned users who have a question about how to do something in Ignition themselves at any time.

“The launch of Inductive University is part of the company’s dedication to building The New SCADA, which is a comprehensive new approach to how SCADA technology is made, sold, and supported,” says Don Pearson, chief strategy officer for Inductive Automation. “By giving our user community the depth and breadth of knowledge to fully leverage Ignition, they will be empowered to implement positive changes in their enterprises and industries.”
