Get Ignition Certified

Get certified in Ignition by Inductive Automation! Whether you use Ignition for an in-house solution or bid Ignition projects as an integrator, getting an Ignition Certification will ensure you can bid and build projects confidently.

The certification process can be completed online and has just a few steps:

  1. Get credentialed at Inductive University
    Watch videos and pass all of the challenges in Inductive University to receive an Ignition Credential. Inductive University is free to use and can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Completing all the courses in IU takes approximately 40 hours for new users. You don’t need an IU credential to attend training, but a credential is required to qualify for the Core Certification test.

  2. Visit us for in-person Core training (optional)
    Experience all the Ignition basics in a hands-on lab with others. This is week-long course will give you a broad base of knowledge in most of Ignition’s systems and get you ready to start working on projects of your own. If you haven’t already completed Inductive University, attending this class will grant a portion of IU challenges.

    The Core class is not required for Certification, but the Core Certification test is similar to the material covered in the Core class. As an added benefit, the Core Certification test is included free-of-charge with the cost of in-person Core training. View our training schedule.

  3. Take the Core Certification test
    Get your hands into Ignition to get Core Certified. This test will assess your Ignition knowledge by requiring you to load a troubleshooting gateway and complete a design section. After completing an Inductive University credential, you can purchase and download the Core test. Once started, this test has a 30-day expiration date but will take most people an estimated 8 hours to complete. You will receive a Core Certification upon successful completion of the Core Test.

    The Ignition Core Certification test is administered at a cost of $1,000. When you are ready to take the Core test, contact sales@inductiveautomation.com to get started.

  4. Dive deeper at our advanced, in-person Databases and Scripting Class (optional)
    Want to become Ignition Gold Certified? Continue your Ignition journey by learning more about the advanced features of Ignition in a hands-on lab. This is three-day course focuses on a small part of Ignition and gives specific examples of how you can build better projects. This class may be taken back-to-back with the Core class, but we recommend spacing them out. If you haven’t already completed Inductive University, attending this class will grant some of the IU challenges.

    Taking this advanced class is not required for Certification, but the Gold Certification test is similar to the material covered in the Databases and Scripting class. As an added benefit, the Gold Certification test is included free-of-charge with the cost of in-person Database and Scripting training class.

  5. Take the Gold Certification test
    This will further test your Ignition knowledge by requiring you to load a troubleshooting gateway and a complete a design section. After completing the Core Certification test, you can purchase and download the Gold test. Once started, this test has a 30-day expiration date but will take most people an estimated 8 hours to complete. You will receive a Gold Certification upon successful completion of the Gold Test.

Once you are Core or Gold certified, staying current is easy. Any time a major version of Ignition is released, you just need to cover the newest challenges in Inductive University and take the special Upgrade Version of your current certification test level.
