At the end of the year, we find ourselves making plans for 2026 while also looking back at the most memorable moments from 2025. This year brought a wealth of insights, from a deep dive into how we use Ignition internally to the landmark release of Ignition 8.3 and the biggest Ignition Community Conference ever. Before stepping into 2026, let’s briefly review the content pieces that resonated most deeply with the Ignition community this year.

Top Case Study: How Inductive Automation Uses Ignition
We’ve created many Ignition case studies over the years, but this was the first time we’d ever made one about how we use the software ourselves. Readers were riveted to learn how we leverage Ignition internally as a flexible, rapid-development toolbox to solve a variety of business challenges. We’ve used Ignition to build numerous enterprise applications (including a Building Automation System and an Architecture Builder, to name a few) and core business systems (like our CRM and License Portal) which are much more customized and flexible than any software that we could get off the shelf.
One particularly interesting insight is how eating our own dog food (so to speak) has helped to improve the product. For example, using Ignition on our HVAC system enabled us to test and refine our BACnet Driver before releasing it to the public. This creates a virtuous cycle in which internal pain points drive feature development, which then benefits customers. For more details, see the case study.

Top Webinar: Exploring Ignition 8.3: A Guided Tour
This was the year of Ignition 8.3, so it was no surprise that the first webinar after its release was the most-watched webinar of 2025. In it, IA’s Chief Technology Evangelist Travis Cox took us all on a high-level walk-through of 8.3’s key features, including the Redesigned Ignition Gateway, Industrial Historian Solution Suite, Perspective Drawing Editor, Event Streams Module & Kafka Connector, security enhancements, DevOps capabilities, and more.
One of the specific insights that emerged along the way was how Ignition 8.3’s enhanced DevOps capabilities are transforming system management. 8.3 stores all configuration as JSON files in the file system, enabling full Git version control for both gateway settings and projects. Combined with the new Deployment Modes and REST API, this enables organizations to implement proper development, testing, and production workflows with a single backup containing all environmental configurations, which is a major advancement in enterprise-scale system management and deployment automation. For other 8.3 insights, watch the webinar. (And get ready to see more 8.3-focused webinars in 2026!)

Top Blog Post: Accelerate Your Ignition Journey with a Free Certification Test
This blog post announced a brand-new free certification benefit for members of the Integrator Program. Readers were so interested in learning about it that the blog post got twice as many views as the second-most-viewed blog post.
With the new benefit, Integrator Program members who earn an Ignition credential through Inductive University now qualify for one free Core certification test. This makes it easier and more cost-effective for integrators to prove their skills and earn new Ignition certifications. The value builds over time as integrators spend time on free IU training, then earn free certification tests, which leads to program tier advancement and the business benefits that result from it. Top ICC Sessions: The Main Keynote & Perspective UX/UI
The Ignition Community Conference (ICC), held in Sacramento’s spacious SAFE Credit Union Convention Center for the first time, was even more amazing than usual this year. The most-attended session at ICC 2025 was the main keynote address, titled “Welcome to the Next Level: The Future is Here.” (We’d also like to shout out to “Hello AI, Meet Ignition: Leveraging LLMs in the Ignition Ecosystem,” which was the top non-keynote session.)
During the main keynote, company leaders explained why Ignition is the only platform that can meet the demands of industrial automation’s new paradigm, in which data can come from anywhere and can be leveraged throughout the whole enterprise. (For a longer summary of the keynote messages, check out these articles.) They also shared some highlights of Ignition 8.3, announced Ignition Solution Suites and Integrator Solutions, and gave an overview of this year’s exciting Discover Gallery projects.
Of course, ICC always features excellent sessions from the Ignition community, and this year’s most popular community session was “Ignition Perspective UX Development & Model-Driven UI,” presented by Oliver Marshall and Rickard Moberg of Tetra Pak. The speakers shared insights about how Tetra Pak created a new front-end application library using Ignition Perspective, as well as Perspective techniques and UX/UI best practices that attendees could use in their own projects.
FYI, all ICC session recordings will be available to watch for free on our ICC content archive starting January 2, 2026.

Top Video: What Is SCADA? (Updated Edition)
Even though it’s been around since the 1960s, there’s still a lot of public curiosity surrounding SCADA. Helping people learn more about SCADA is a great way to introduce them to the Ignition platform, so this year IA’s Chief Technology Officer Carl Gould and Multimedia team filmed a new version of our “What Is SCADA?” video, and, sure enough, it went on to become our most-watched video of 2025 and one of our most-liked videos ever on YouTube. Viewers who are new to the subject learned that SCADA systems provide real-time control, critical alarming, and data storage, making them indispensable for industrial organizations. To see our take on SCADA, watch the video.
