Ignition Proves Effectiveness of Energy-Saving Systems
Enermix, a Finnish integration firm that regularly works with energy systems and building automation, provides a free service that uses Ignition to make sure its customers are getting the most out of their building’s heating system. Due to the extreme winters in Finland, building heating systems are an expensive necessity. Fortunately, with Enermix’s work in Ignition, customers are able to save energy and money and see their month-over-month consumption and savings.

Fine-Grained Precision
This project is for the automation of the grain handling at a facility in Nebraska. There is no traditional HMI with this project. The Ignition application handles the device level control of every motor at the facility. This particular application was on a single server running a MySQL database. There were four clients, one PLC connection to an Allen Bradley ControlLogix, about 12,000 real-time tags, and a few transaction groups logging about 1,500 points of data. The project was developed originally in Ignition version 7.5 and it fully leverages templates and UDTs.

Unifying Data From Six Different Divisions
The organization started using Ignition as a more cost-effective way of meeting the air quality data requirements of its state Environmental Protection Agency. This initially amounted to a few pages within a project, around 100 tags, and a couple of clients. It now monitors over 114 Allen-Bradley devices, tracks over 10,700 tags, and has 130-plus current active clients with an expected expansion to over 300 clients by year-end.
ILS Provides Multi-Layered Solution for Lab Data
ILS Automation serves laboratories that perform many experiments to develop and understand biological processes. The goal of these experiments varies but usually involves optimizing strain and operating conditions to increase yield. In addition, some product may be extracted for downstream process development, such as separation. Also, batch data is slightly different than a continuous process in that the absolute time is not as important as batch age, where batch age usually starts after inoculation. Several real-time or historical batches are compared simultaneously.

The New SCADA Movement That Is Changing Manufacturing
Inductive Automation has made SCADA technology more future-proof through its modular, web-based, and scalable software called Ignition. Many enterprises have been held back from innovating by SCADA software built on outdated technology and sold under restrictive licensing. Ignition, which is best described as The New SCADA, corrects this problem with modern technologies: it is web-deployed, flexible, database-friendly, performs true real-time analytics, features rapid installation and development, and is platform-independent.
